Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku reveals former Inter striker Adriano was his childhood idol – “I hope he’s going to play again”, reports footballitalia.
The Brazilian was a promising youngster with the Nerazzurri, earning the nickname L’Imperatore for his performances at San Siro, as well as on loan at Fiorentina and in a co-ownership deal with Parma.
However, Adriano suffered from personal issues and his carer petered out, with his last appearance coming for Miami United, a third-tier team in the USA.
“I really like Brazilian players,” Lukaku told ESPN Brazil.
“When I was little, Adriano was my great idol. Because when I was little, I had the same qualities as him.
“Very strong, our shooting with the left was the same. I hope he’s going to play again because he’s a good player. For me he’s an idol. I like him a lot.”
