Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic reveals he turned down the chance to join tomorrow’s opponents Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, reports footballitalia.
The Bianconeri welcome the English side to Turin for the first leg of their Champions League Last 16 tie, but Pjanic could easily have been on the other side had he made a different decision four years ago.
The Bosnian international was playing for Roma at the time, and Spurs wanted him to replace Luka Modric after his move to Real Madrid.
“There was the opportunity,” Pjanic confirmed, speaking to the Daily Telegraph.
“At that moment I told them I was happy where I was and that’s why we didn’t sign the deal. I made my choice using my head and if I made that choice not to go to an English team it was for good reasons.”
Panic was instrumental as the Old Lady reached the Champions League final last season, and he wants to go one better this time around.
“We are very competitive, very hungry and we definitely want to win it. But Tottenham are a great team.”
